Love Island couple ‘split after just one date’ as secret meetup fails to spark romance

Published:

A Love Island couple have reportedly decided to call it quits after just one date together. Scott Thomas and Jessy Potts sparked romance rumours when they were seen on a date in London last month.

The reality TV stars headed to the capital to watch Back to the Future The Musical before checking out of The Londoner Hotel the following day. Jessy found same on the hit ITV2 dating show when she coupled up with TOWIE’s Joey Essex last year.

However, they split just seven weeks after leaving the villa after their rollercoaster romance. Scott, meanwhile, attempted to find love on the show again as he took part in the All Stars spin-off at the start of the year.

He had desperately tried to find his match. However, after a row with former TOWIE star Elma Pazar regarding his pairing with Tina Stinnes, Scott called it a day in the South African villa.

It seems his luck hasn’t been on his side outside the villa either, as he tried to grow close to Jessy. Things clearly weren’t meant to be as after just one date they decided they’re better off as friends, according to reports.

A source told the Sun.: “Jessy and Scott went on one date but decided they were better off as friends. Jessy is looking forward to having a single summer and to get out there and date, while Scott has different priorities right now.

“They felt that they would be better as pals and weren’t compatible on a romantic level.” Scott’s famous brothers Adam and Ryan Thomas recently revealed they thought Scott was simply “too old” to go back on Love Island before his early exit.

During his stint on All Stars, Scott, who first appeared on Love Island back in 2016 during the second series, was one of the eldest members of the cast in the villa at the age of 36, alongside former Blazin’ Squad star, Marcel Somerville, who was 39.

Meanwhile, the youngest Islander was Sammy Root, aged just 23. While Scott’s twin Adam said he was proud of his brother, he questioned whether he was simply too mature for the show.

Speaking to Heat Magazine, he said: “I’m happy that he left when he did though – it felt like the right time. He was maybe a little bit too mature and even too old for the other contestants.”

When Scott made his decision to leave the show, Adam immediately praised his brother and again touched on the age factor. Speaking to Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid, he said: “He was in the series when it first started, series two, he was young, he was free, he didn’t have that much to lose.

“He was going in there for a little bit of fun. At 36, you’re not looking for a bit of fun, you’re looking to settle down.” Scott had earlier told Luca Bish in the villa his situation was “stressing me out”.

The Mirror has contacted Scott and Jessy’s representatives for comment.
