The rescheduled single-game final will take place in Winnipeg on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The change from a multi-game series to a one-game championship was made to ensure fairness and practicality, returning to the format used in previous years. Brampton had initially taken a 6-0 lead before the game was halted, with Winnipeg’s Xavier Moon slipping on the court.
Honey Badgers CEO Al Whitley expressed regret over the cancellation of the game. The two teams had met twice earlier in the season, with Brampton winning both encounters. Winnipeg’s journey to the finals included victories over Saskatoon Mamba and the favored Vancouver Bandits in the Western Conference final.
The Honey Badgers, previously champions in 2022, are now one win away from another title. They overcame Ottawa BlackJacks and Niagara River Lions in the playoffs. Notably, the Sea Bears and Honey Badgers are owned by siblings David Asper and Leonard Asper, respectively, adding an intriguing off-court storyline to the championship series.
