Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday that it will be recalling slightly over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks globally due to a seat belt issue. The recall pertains to Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where the second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
This issue could affect the functionality of the second-row seat belt system, leading to an increased risk of injury for occupants. Stellantis has been made aware of one potential injury associated with the recall, although no fatalities have been reported.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to impacted vehicle owners to arrange for an inspection at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will assess the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor, ensuring it is correctly attached to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
