A physician has shared a distressing account of his efforts to aid Alex Pretti after he was shot by an ICE agent, detailing the actions of the shooter afterward.
Alex Pretti was fatally shot in Minneapolis on January 24 amid ongoing protests against ICE agents and the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
According to the doctor, instead of providing immediate assistance, federal agents were seen “tallying his gunshot wounds.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) asserts that the agents fired in self-defense, citing Pretti’s possession of a handgun at the time.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that Pretti, an ICU nurse, was believed to be a lawful gun owner with a carry permit. However, there is no indication that he intended to harm officers during the protest.
An eyewitness present at the scene contradicted the DHS’s claims in a court document, stating that they never witnessed Pretti displaying a weapon toward agents. The witness described the events leading to the shooting, emphasizing that the agents fired multiple shots at Pretti.
The witness also mentioned attempting to help Pretti while the agents focused on counting his wounds instead of providing aid. They expressed confusion over the agents’ actions, highlighting the lack of standard medical procedures being followed.
Alex, described as a compassionate individual, was remembered for his bravery in trying to shield others before being shot by an ICE agent. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots as onlookers watched in shock. Allegations arose that ICE agents did not attempt to revive Pretti after the shooting.
