A tragic incident unfolded as a 12-year-old girl carried out a heinous murder-suicide plan by shooting her father before turning the gun on herself. The shocking event took place in Poolville, Texas, on September 20, 2022, where Emma Brown shot her father, Daniel Brown, in the stomach. Although Daniel survived, Emma succumbed to her self-inflicted gunshot wound two days later in the hospital.
Prior to the gruesome act, a disturbing photo surfaced showing Emma and her father surrounded by guns and ammunition on a table. It was revealed that Emma had planned to not only kill her family and pets but also involved another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas, in the conspiracy. The girls had plotted to escape to Georgia together.
Responding to a shooting call, authorities found Emma with a gunshot wound to her head and her father with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Investigations unveiled that Emma had meticulously planned the murders for weeks and had coordinated with the other girl from Lufkin, who was subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
After shooting her father, Emma walked a short distance from her home before taking her own life. Emergency services responders heard a distressing account of the incident on arrival. Following the tragedy, the family installed a gate with a ‘No Trespassing’ sign at their home entrance.
An autopsy by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Emma’s death was a suicide by gunshot. Meanwhile, her father was recovering after being discharged from the hospital. The second girl from Lufkin involved in the planning was apprehended and faced charges related to the murder plot.
Jessica Pebsworth, the Director for Lufkin, emphasized the importance of parents knowing their children’s friends, whether in school, on social media platforms, or gaming networks, in light of this distressing event. For those in need of support, the Samaritans helpline was recommended for emotional assistance.
