“Canada Curling Team’s Language Sparks Winter Olympics Controversy”

Date:

BBC co-commentator Steve Cram has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the Canada curling team regarding their use of inappropriate language after they defeated Team GB 9-5.

Brad Jacobs’ team has faced controversy in Milan and Cortina, with Canada third Marc Kennedy involved in a profanity-laden exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson. This incident led to an apology from the BBC.

Kennedy also faced allegations of double-touching a stone during a match against Sweden, prompting World Curling to issue a statement clarifying the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team criticized the Canadians’ language once again.

During a break in the match, the Canadians were heard swearing near TV cameras, causing disapproval from Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray. Cram emphasized the need for the Canadians to be spoken to about their behavior.

Following the incident, Canada held a 3-1 lead after the third end, with Mouat’s team facing a tough battle to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Despite their Olympic silver medal win, Team GB must now overcome challenges against Canada and the USA to advance.
