Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, reached out to London’s Metropolitan Police alleging that he witnessed an assault on a woman via video call. The accused, Matvei Rumiantsev, a Russian-born individual facing multiple charges including assault and rape, is currently on trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Barron, 19, contacted the police from the US after observing the incident during a FaceTime call with the unnamed victim in London.
During the call to the police on January 18 last year, Barron expressed concern about the woman being attacked, stating that he had just learned how to contact emergency services. When questioned about the source of his information, Barron mentioned meeting the victim on social media but emphasized the urgency of the situation. Despite initial tensions with the operator, Barron apologized for any perceived rudeness.
Following the incident, Barron was approached by investigators to provide a witness statement. In his email response, Barron described the brief but impactful moment he witnessed, highlighting the presence of an unidentified shirtless man before the victim’s image appeared on screen. He further explained that he involved friends in contacting the UK police despite being in the US, based on the victim’s account of ongoing harassment by the accused.
Although Barron’s initial emails received responses from the police, subsequent follow-ups did not elicit replies. The victim acknowledged Barron’s intervention as pivotal in potentially saving her life, referring to the call as a significant moment. Meanwhile, Rumiantsev, the defendant, denies the charges against him, including assault, rape, and perverting justice. Allegations suggest that he was driven by jealousy towards Barron and reacted violently towards the victim.
The trial is ongoing, with the defense challenging the victim’s account of events and presenting an alternative narrative. The court continues to hear testimonies and evidence related to the case.
