The Original Factory Shop has recently appointed administrators from Interpath Advisory, becoming the latest retailer to do so. This move has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs at risk. While the stores are still operating normally, the online operations have been ceased for now.
According to the administrators, The Original Factory Shop has been struggling with cost inflation, increased labor expenses, and reduced sales due to decreased consumer spending. Additionally, issues with its third-party warehouse and logistics provider have exacerbated the situation. The company, established in 1969, was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and one of the joint administrators, expressed regret over the challenges faced by The Original Factory Shop, leading to the administration decision. They plan to collaborate with the company’s employees to continue store operations while exploring potential business solutions.
