A renowned theme park in Devon is gearing up to enhance its array of family-friendly offerings in 2026, as it unveils plans for two new rides set to launch during the spring and summer seasons.
Crealy, situated in Clyst St Mary, Exeter, was honored with accolades for Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards, recognizing its Sooty Land experience.
The upcoming additions will complement the park’s current lineup of over 60 rides and attractions, including popular features like the Tidal Wave log flume and the unique Maximus Rollercoaster inspired by ancient Rome.
In the spring, Pirates’ Plummet will make its debut, promising to be the tallest drop tower adventure in the South West. Originally operated at Paultons Park in Hampshire as Magma, the attraction will now be reimagined with pirate-themed elements, offering thrills for guests over 110cm tall. Those over 130cm can ride unaccompanied, as reported by Devon Live.
As summer approaches, visitors can look forward to the unveiling of Rotor, touted as the first inverted attraction in the South West. This high-speed ride will spin and flip passengers, providing a gravity-defying experience.
While specific details about Rotor are scarce at this stage, preview images depict riders securely fastened in their seats. Since its inception in the late 1980s, Crealy’s theme park has been a beloved destination for families, with a commitment to catering to a wide range of age groups.
In a recent announcement, the park expressed its intention to broaden its appeal to older children while maintaining its reputation for offering unforgettable experiences to visitors of all ages.
Over the years, Crealy has introduced various enhancements, such as the introduction of Sooty Land in 2022, a dedicated area themed around the popular children’s show Sooty. The land features live shows starring Sooty, Sweep, and their friends, along with themed rides like Sweep’s Flying Circus and Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Dizzy.
In 2012, the park expanded its offerings to include on-site accommodations like lodges, glamping options, and camping spots, allowing families to enjoy stay-and-play packages with unlimited park access.
Staying at Crealy also provides easy access to nearby attractions in Exeter and the charming seaside town of Exmouth, offering a mix of historical landmarks, museums, and scenic coastal views for a well-rounded vacation experience.
