Nigel Farage has accused Donald Trump of violating international law with the recent actions in Venezuela but suggested that it could have some positive outcomes.
President Trump announced that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were taken out of the country following pressure from the US, leading to explosions and military presence in Caracas.
Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, a self-proclaimed close ally of President Trump, acknowledged the illegality of the strikes while pointing out that it might serve as a deterrent to Russia and China.
In a statement, Farage mentioned that although the actions in Venezuela were unconventional and against international norms, they could potentially influence China and Russia’s behavior. He expressed hope for a positive change for the Venezuelan people without Maduro in power.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer clarified that the UK had no involvement in the US operation in Venezuela. He expressed a desire to speak with President Trump to gather more information about the situation, emphasizing the UK’s focus on safeguarding British nationals in Venezuela.
Around 500 UK nationals are currently in Venezuela, and efforts are being made to ensure their safety. The Foreign Office has advised against all travel to Venezuela and recommended British nationals to stay updated on departure options and have a personal emergency plan in place.
