Ryanair has unveiled new flight options to a sunny destination where temperatures in December can reach up to 18C, all starting from just £15. The low-cost carrier has announced a significant 37% increase in its services at Murcia airport for the upcoming winter season. Among the additions are four routes, including a fresh connection to London Stansted with four weekly flights, as well as extra flights to Birmingham and Dublin.
Fares for flights to and from Murcia are now available from as little as £15 departing from Stansted. This expansion is expected to bring about the creation of more than 450 local jobs and offer travelers a wider range of options at competitive prices, as stated by Alejandra Ruiz, the spokesperson for Ryanair in Spain.
The winter schedule for Ryanair in Murcia for the upcoming season aims to enhance connectivity during non-peak periods, contributing to the generation of over 450 local job opportunities and fostering year-round tourism in the region.
Despite the growth at Murcia Airport, Ryanair has been compelled to reduce its overall schedule in Spain for the 2025/2026 winter season by one million seats due to significant increases in AENA charges (+6.62%) and ineffective incentive programs, rendering regional airports economically unsustainable.
Ryanair has traditionally been a proponent of and investor in regional airports to facilitate access to affordable air travel, thereby promoting tourism and job creation. However, the airline finds it challenging to continue investing in airports that face financial challenges due to non-competitive fees.
Murcia is renowned for its cultural attractions, pleasant weather, historical significance, delightful cuisine, and beautiful beaches.
