“Married couple tragically dies from carbon monoxide poisoning in New Forest”

Date:

A tragic incident unfolded as a married couple was discovered lifeless inside a camper van in New Forest, succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning, according to details unveiled in an inquest.

Christopher and Kayleigh Coll, residents of Blandford Forum, Dorset, were found deceased in their vehicle on October 12 during their visit to the New Forest Cider Festival in Burley. The couple, known for their strong bond, left behind their four children – Shyla, Alex, Kaizer, and Emily, who are now under the care of relatives.

During the inquest at Winchester Coroners Court, it was revealed that the camper van was utilizing gas heating, and despite efforts by paramedics, Christopher, 48, and Kayleigh, 38, could not be revived at the scene.

The initial cause of death, as determined by Area Coroner Nicholas Walker, was attributed to carbon monoxide toxicity. The proceedings have been adjourned until July 22, 2026. Following the tragic event, a tribute from the family described the couple as “vibrant, kind, and devoted to their four children.”

To support the children, a GoFundMe page has raised over £30,000 out of a £37,000 target. Mr. Coll, the proprietor of Mystacoll’s Spirit known for handcrafted copper art, crystals, clothing, and jewellery, expressed excitement on Facebook before the cider festival: “Huge excitement for us as we set up our marquee today ready for the @newforestciderfestival in Burley this weekend!!!”

The couple’s family released a statement through the police, stating: “Their absence has created an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who cherished them. Our primary focus is now on safeguarding and aiding their children while allowing our families the privacy and time to mourn.

“We respectfully request the public and media to honor our privacy and refrain from speculation or intrusive reporting during this profoundly sorrowful period. The families are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigations.”

A heartfelt tribute was shared on Facebook by a close acquaintance of the couple following their passing, expressing deep sorrow and love for the departed souls. Another individual commemorated them, highlighting Kayleigh’s compassionate nature and the impact they had on many lives.

The festival organizers also paid respects, acknowledging the tragic loss of the two attendees and extending condolences to their loved ones during this challenging time.
