In a few days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. Prioritizing working families, my focus will be on reducing NHS waiting lists, cutting national debt, and lowering the cost of living. These objectives align with the nation’s needs and my personal goals in this role.
Reducing NHS waiting lists is crucial to fulfilling our commitment to restoring the health service, reversing years of austerity imposed by the previous government, and ensuring timely medical care for patients in need. Addressing national debt is essential as substantial debt interest payments hinder investments in vital sectors like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and local communities.
Lowering the cost of living is a top concern as it significantly impacts households. Rising prices disproportionately affect ordinary families, creating financial strain. Recognizing that many feel economically stagnant, I aim to alleviate this pressure through Budget initiatives that benefit working people.
Our government has already taken steps to ease financial burdens on households, such as freezing prescription charges and rail fares, introducing school breakfast clubs, and combating ticket scalping to make entertainment more affordable. These measures have positively impacted everyday expenses, and I pledge to extend such efforts in the upcoming Budget.
Ensuring economic stability has been instrumental in managing living costs effectively and preventing past financial mistakes. By curbing wasteful spending and fraud, we aim to allocate resources efficiently, whether in asylum support, eliminating unnecessary government roles, or preventing welfare fraud.
The forthcoming Budget is designed to benefit you and your family, fostering a fairer, stronger, and more secure Britain. Our commitment to responsible financial management and targeted spending will pave the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future.
