Travelling can often be costly, particularly when international flights come into play. However, a major airline has introduced a new program that offers British and European travelers the opportunity to secure complimentary flights, with a small catch for those interested in booking.
In an effort to combat over-tourism in popular destinations, All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, has teamed up with the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to provide free domestic flights during the winter season. This unique promotion allows travelers to receive two free internal flights when booking an inbound international flight.
The aim is to motivate travelers to explore Japan’s less-frequented regions, showcasing its diverse landscapes and beautiful coastlines, rather than sticking to the usual tourist hubs like Tokyo and Kyoto. This presents a perfect chance to delve into the country’s culture and discover another side of Japan while steering clear of large crowds.
ANA serves over 40 locations throughout Japan, all of which are included in the offer, providing a plethora of stunning destinations to choose from, including Fukuoka, Hokkaido, and Nagasaki. Travelers can also journey to the Okinawa Islands, known as the ‘Maldives of Japan’ for their picturesque sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.
To take advantage of the complimentary domestic flights, travelers must meet certain conditions. The offer is applicable only to those arriving from the UK or Europe, and individuals are required to cover the cost of their own international flight to Japan with ANA.
For those interested, the best time to book a flight from London to Tokyo is in January, with prices starting at £821. The promotion will run from November 24 to January 31, 2026, but flights can still be scheduled outside of this period.
Participants will receive standard class flights under the program, and may need to pay taxes and visa fees depending on their chosen destination. Notably, domestic flights do not have to originate and conclude at the same airport, allowing for more flexibility in exploring the country.
The airline expresses its hope that this limited-time offer will make regional exploration more accessible and budget-friendly, while fostering deeper and more sustainable connections with Japan’s culturally rich regions.
