A father described as “pure evil” has been found guilty of murdering his five infant children over a span of nine years. Paul Allen Perez, aged 63, was convicted by a Yolo County jury in northern California on multiple counts of murder and one count of assault on a child under eight resulting in death. The District Attorney’s Office confirmed these charges.
The tragic incidents occurred between 1992 and 2001, with the infants – all under six months old – being killed at various locations in Central and Northern California. The investigation started in 2007 when the body of a baby was discovered in a canal, concealed inside a cooler in the Conway Slough area near Woodland. DNA evidence linked the child to Perez, who was identified as the biological father in 2019 after a 12-year mystery surrounding the baby’s identity.
Further inquiries revealed that Nikko was one of five siblings who had tragically lost their lives. The other children, born between 1992 and 2001, were identified as Kato Allen Perez, Mika Alena Perez, Nikko Lee Perez, and Kato Krow Perez. Only the remains of two of the five children have been located.
Before facing charges related to the murders, Perez was already incarcerated for other offenses. His wife, Yolanda Perez, who testified against him, pleaded guilty to child endangerment in exchange for dropping murder charges. During the trial, she recounted years of abuse and threats by Perez, who allegedly killed their children shortly after birth, warning her not to involve the authorities.
Deputy District Attorney David Robbins emphasized Perez’s lack of remorse during the trial, stating that the intentional nature of the crimes was evident. Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig described the actions as “pure evil” and advocated for the defendant to spend life in prison without parole.
Paul Allen Perez is set to be sentenced on April 6 in Yolo County Superior Court, facing a lifetime behind bars.
