Another body has been recovered from the water in Withernsea following a search and rescue effort for four missing individuals. Alongside a 67-year-old man, another person has tragically lost their life after encountering difficulties in the sea off the coast of East Yorkshire.
Humberside police spokesperson confirmed the recovery of the second body from the sea, stating that the circumstances are not considered suspicious. Search operations involving Humberside Police, HM Coastguard, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and Humberside Fire & Rescue are ongoing to locate the remaining individual who went into the water earlier in the day.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area to facilitate the efficient and safe work of emergency services. Despite extensive search efforts, one of the four missing persons remains unaccounted for.
The Coastguard received reports of multiple individuals in distress in the water at Withernsea around 3:10 pm on January 2. Responding to the incident, HM Coastguard dispatched search and rescue resources, including helicopters, aircraft, and Coastguard Rescue Teams from various locations.
Assistance is also being provided by RNLI lifeboats, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, air ambulance, Humberside Police, and Humberside Fire and Rescue. The search for the final missing person is ongoing, with emergency services continuing their operations throughout the night.
