Two more individuals have been shot by ICE officers in the United States. The shooting incident occurred in Portland shortly after a woman’s death in Minneapolis.
According to Portland City councillors, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near East Burnside and 141st Avenue. City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney stated that both individuals are believed to be alive, but there has been no update on their conditions. The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident.
The shooting took place amidst anti-ICE protests that have erupted nationwide, including in Portland, following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman named Renee Good. Protesters swiftly gathered after the shooting, holding a vigil for Good and calling for resistance against immigration enforcement.
Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer while attempting to drive away on a snowy residential street during an immigration-related operation. Vice President JD Vance described Good’s death as a self-inflicted tragedy. Vance emphasized that video evidence showed Good accelerating her car into the officer.
Although video footage does not definitively show contact between the vehicle and the officer, Vance criticized Good as being influenced by left-wing ideology. He stated that her death was a result of her own actions and the far-left movement opposing law enforcement.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey disputed claims of self-defense by the officer, while President Trump asserted that Good had intentionally struck the ICE officer. Trump deployed federal law enforcement officials and National Guard troops to Democratic cities as part of his crime and immigration crackdown efforts.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt characterized Good’s killing as a consequence of a radical left-wing movement. Leavitt affirmed the administration’s commitment to removing criminal, illegal alien offenders from American streets.
