Anthony Joshua has made preparations for his upcoming fight against Jake Paul by traveling to Miami to adjust to the time zone. Following a brutal knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024, Joshua has been out of action due to injury but has now recovered from elbow surgery and is back in full training for his return to the ring.
The announcement of Joshua facing Paul left many surprised, with the heavyweight clash scheduled to take place on December 19 in Miami, Florida. The bout, set for eight three-minute rounds, will see both men wearing 10oz gloves.
Although Joshua is expected to dominate the fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer, he is approaching the match with utmost seriousness. Promoter Eddie Hearn has commended Joshua’s sharp condition as he gears up for the highly anticipated showdown.
The fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul in Miami on December 19 will be streamed live on Netflix, accessible for free with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle. Hearn mentioned that Joshua must not exceed 245lb for the fight, with weight-cutting not expected to be a major issue based on current progress.
During negotiations, Hearn revealed that there were discussions about weight limits, with Paul weighing around 220 pounds while Joshua needed to trim down. The event is set to take place close to Christmas, with the fighters likely to enter the ring around 11pm local time, catering to the American audience and subject to undercard duration.
