“Time Running Out: Nottingham Council Offers £100 Vouchers”

Date:

Time is running out for numerous households to secure £100 worth of supermarket vouchers.

Nottingham City Council is offering these vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund, with the deadline for applications set at midnight.

Although specific eligibility criteria have not been disclosed by the council, it is anticipated that individuals with low income or receiving benefits will qualify. Applications can be submitted through the Nottingham City Council website.

The council aims to notify applicants via email by December 12, but the actual receipt of the voucher may extend until February 28, 2026.

A total of 10,000 vouchers will be distributed randomly to successful households, rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. Even if a voucher was received from the council in April 2025, households can still apply.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People, and Education at the Council, expressed satisfaction over the additional £1 million allocated to support Nottingham’s most vulnerable residents during the winter months.

Addressing the financial challenges faced by households in recent years, the additional funding aims to alleviate pressure on those most affected during a period of heightened expenses.

The Household Support Fund allocates a portion of a £742 million funding pool to local councils in England to assist vulnerable households with essential living expenses, including energy bills and food.

If you are in need, contact your local council to explore available support options. For instance, Wakefield Council is providing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance.

Pensioners benefiting from Council Tax Support received a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers scheduled for other households.

Families receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting from December 15. Additionally, households in receipt of Council Tax Support will get a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.

Blackpool Council is disbursing £200 in energy assistance to eligible households of one or two individuals, including children. Households with three or more individuals, including children, will receive £300.

To qualify for support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulties in bill payments, along with providing recent bank statements for all household members.
