Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero have ended their professional relationship after working together for seven years. Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when the young Spanish player was just 15 years old, guiding him to success.
During their time together, Alcaraz achieved significant milestones, including winning six Grand Slam titles, becoming the world No. 1, and earning an Olympic silver medal. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion himself, played a pivotal role in Alcaraz’s development.
The decision to part ways comes shortly after Ferrero and Samuel Lopez were honored with the 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award for their work with Alcaraz. Ferrero made history by being the first person to win this accolade multiple times since its establishment in 2016.
Alcaraz announced the separation on social media, expressing gratitude for the journey they shared and the growth he experienced under Ferrero’s guidance. In a heartfelt message, Alcaraz reflected on their time together and expressed optimism for the future.
Similarly, Ferrero shared his sentiments on Instagram, reminiscing about the shared experiences and expressing pride in their accomplishments. He thanked Alcaraz for the trust and collaboration, acknowledging the support of their team throughout the years.
Alcaraz continues to receive coaching from Samuel Lopez, who operates at Ferrero’s academy in Alicante. The reasons behind Ferrero’s departure from Alcaraz’s coaching setup remain undisclosed.
