Jack P Shepherd says he is getting married soon but skipping one tradition and insists he “won’t miss it in the slightest.” The Coronation Street actor, 37, is now in the Big Brother house for the next three weeks but will then leave the house and walk down the aisle with long-term girlfriend Hanni Treweek.
In a rare interview discussing his personal life he said: “The wedding is this year. We’re very excited. It’s all done. It’s all paid for. It should be a really good day actually. I love a wedding. Absolutely love a wedding. Weddings and funerals.
“I really like funerals as well, in a weird way, because they’re never that sad. You go and all you ever do at funerals is laugh, I think. Do you know what I mean? And you all get sandwiches, you know what you’re wearing, you have a few drinks, you have a few laughs.”
But despite having planned his wedding already, actor Jack says there is one element he hasn’t arranged and won’t be doing. Asked about a stag do, Jack said: “No, I don’t like the idea of going on a stag do where someone just takes the piss out of you all weekend and you’re the butt of every joke and you have to dress up like a f***ing baby.
“No, I’m not doing any of that. Han’s not having a hen party either. And I won’t miss it in the slightest.” Hanni worked as a storyliner on Coronation Street from 2018 to 2020.
During this time she first met Jack, but it was an encounter at a wedding for a mutual friend that sparked their romance. Speaking to OK Magazine in 2020, Jack said: “Then our mutual friends got married and we were both guests at the wedding.
“We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.” Jack has entered the house alongside 12 other celebrities on Monday night on the ITV show. He was alongside Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke, Love Island’s Chris Hughes and former MP Michael Fabricant.
Others in the line up include singer Chesney Hawkes and TV host Trisha Goddard who will live with Olympic champion Daley Thompson and The Only Way Is Essex’s Ella Rae Wise.
Fellow soap star Patsy Palmer told the Mirror earlier this week she hopes fans will see ‘the real me’ and not her soap character Bianca Jackson on the show.
She said: “I think fans might think that I am quite feisty because of Bianca but I’m not really, I’m quite a calm person. People always say that I am, even at work at EastEnders, people always say that I bring quite a nice sort of vibe.
“I’ve got my life together! She can’t get her life together. She’s on fight or flight. I’m not on fight or flight. I’m not really zen, but I do like to try my best to follow that kind of way of life which is so different from the drama in her life!”
