A man aged 34 has made a court appearance in connection with the alleged murder of a 65-year-old woman on the evening of New Year’s Eve.
Law enforcement officials responded to a residence in Maple Gardens, Yateley, Hampshire, at 9:40 am on Wednesday, December 31, following a report of the discovery of Janet Bowen’s deceased body at the location.
According to a spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary, the victim’s family has been notified and is receiving support from the authorities.
Michael Bowen, a resident of Maple Gardens in Yateley, attended Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, facing charges related to the woman’s murder.
He has been detained in custody pending a future court appearance at Winchester Crown Court, the date of which is yet to be determined.
In an official statement, the police department mentioned that they were alerted at 9:40 am on December 31 regarding the finding of Janet Bowen, aged 65, deceased at a residence in Maple Gardens, Yateley.
Furthermore, the statement confirmed that Michael Bowen, aged 34, also residing in Maple Gardens, Yateley, has been charged with murder by the Major Crime Team officers.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court in the coming days.
